Larry Terrien

Larry Terrien is Co-owner and General Manager at MJ Collision center. He has been in the collision repair industry since he was a young boy helping out in his dad’s shop. He worked his way through college doing bodywork part time, and then worked full time at Green Bay dealerships for several years.

Larry went on to earn a Master’s degree in Vocational Education and taught Collision Repair and Refinishing at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for 29 years, retiring in 2007. He received the national Collision Repair Instructor of the Year award from the I-CAR Education Foundation in 1996. While at NWTC, his students received many national honors and awards, including gold medals in Skills USA three years in a row.

After retiring from NWTC, Larry did consulting work and training for area body shops as well as industrial paint training for several large corporations around the state. He is still active with ASE, writing certification tests and as a team leader certifying collision repair programs around the country.  As president of WACTAL (the state association for the industry), Larry is continuing in his leadership role by uniting quality shops that have the customers’ best interests as their first priority.

Larry achieved a life-long dream of owning a collision repair facility with the purchase of MJ Collision Center with his son Joe in 2009. “I have taught collision repair for most of my adult life, and always tried to instill ethics and values in my students, encouraging them to do the best that they possibly can,” Larry stated. “Now Joe and I are taking it to the next level. We are striving to do the best job we possibly can on every vehicle that comes into our facility. An accident is a very stressful experience, and we want to make the collision repair process as simple and worry-free as possible for each and every customer.”

In their spare time Larry and his wife Chris enjoy spending time with their three children and six grandchildren. Larry is also a pilot and enjoys flying, as well as teaching motorcycle safety and riding his BMW motorcycle.

Joe Terrien

Joe Terrien

Joe is Co-owner and Production Manager at MJ Collision Center.  He has been repairing and painting cars since he was five years old with Larry.  Joe graduated from Denmark High School where he lives with his wife, Jessica and their three children, Gus, Franny, and Clara.  After graduating from NWTC in Collision Repair and Refinishing, Joe earned his Bachelor’s Degree from UW Stout in Career and Technical Education and Training.  He was secretary/treasurer of the Bay Auto Body Association for many years, and enjoys being part of the Advisory Committee at NWTC.

While working as a Collision Repair and Refinishing Technician, Joe enjoyed teaching as a part time instructor at NWTC in the Collision Repair program.  He has always taken pride in performing quality repairs and really enjoys working with people, and that makes it fun to come in to work every day at the shop.

Mountain biking, downhill skiing, and traveling are all activities Joe likes to do with family in his downtime.  They frequently like to take walks with their dogs, especially when it’s cold outside.  Joe also enjoys woodworking as a hobby, and together with Larry, they have built all of the cabinets around the shop.

Joe Ramel

Joe Ramel

Joe began working at MJ Collision Center in May, 2007, as a Combination Technician. His duties include body work, painting, and detailing. Ramel graduated from Lakeshore Technical College with a degree in Auto Body and Paint Technician in 2001. Joe entered the automotive field following his experience in restoring a 1969 Trans Am. “After going through school, I realized that the car was too far gone,” Joe said. However, since then his interest in cars has only strengthened. What he likes most about working in the collision repair field is taking a vehicle that is heavily damaged and bringing it back to life.

Joe grew up in Random Lake, Wisconsin. Today, Joe calls New Franken home along with his wife, Missy, daughter, Allie and son, Trent. In his free time, he enjoys going camping and having bonfires with his family and friends. Joe feels at home outdoors, enjoying bow hunting and fishing, and also likes to play softball and volleyball during the summer months.

Ray Vande Velden

Ray VandeVelden

Ray has been with MJ Collision Center since 2012, when he graduated from NWTC’s Collision Repair and Refinishing program. He also competed in Skills USA competition while attending NWTC. Painting is his primary duty at the shop, but he never shies away from getting out his tools to get some body work done when needed. Ray has always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together to figure out how they work; the more difficult the better for him.

Having grown up in Green Bay, Ray has spent many weekends and vacations at their cabin up in Lakewood, WI. He and his wife, Tessa, enjoy taking trips to national parks, camping, and exploring the country. Ray enjoys building computers and spends quite a bit of time using them. Another hobby he enjoys is throwing a yo-yo around from time to time, which is pretty cool since not a lot of people can say that. Ray has also taken up shooting trap at De Pere Sportsman Club as well as New Franken Sportsman Club to fill in the remainder of his spare time.
