One number people reach for by reflex is deliberately absent from this page. The word-based line most US casino footers print is run by the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, which reclaimed it in 2025, so it is that state's service rather than the national network's, and we do not print it on a Wisconsin page. Its digits are also one away from Wisconsin's own line above, which is the practical reason to use the Wisconsin number rather than something half-remembered. Set the controls before the first deposit, not after a bad month
Every control below is easier to set while nothing has gone wrong, and most operators bury them two levels into an account menu. Find them on the day you register.
- Deposit limit, daily, weekly or monthly. The single most effective control there is, because it caps the loss before any decision about a bet gets made.
- Loss limit, where offered. Caps the net rather than the funding.
- Session time limit and reality checks, which interrupt play with an elapsed-time notice.
- Cool-off period, a short lock of a day to a few weeks that does not close the account.
- Self-exclusion, a long or permanent closure. Ask in writing what the shortest available term is, because operators differ and some cannot reverse it early.
One thing to understand about the operators listed on this site specifically: none is licensed in Wisconsin, so no Wisconsin authority enforces these tools or audits whether they work as described. Self-exclusion in Wisconsin
Wisconsin has no statewide online self-exclusion register, because it licenses no online casino for one to cover. The tribal casinos operate their own exclusion programmes under their own compacts, and a request has to be made to the property or tribal gaming authority directly. For online accounts, exclusion is per operator. There is no single request that covers all of them, so if you are stepping away, you have to do it at each account you hold.
